Valkyrie

The inspiration for this axe was definitely the Viking axe.  I chose to make a few concessions to the overall aesthetics in order to maximize scoring potential.  The blade of the axe is 4 inches, and the beard is 2 inches thick to ensure you have enough metal on the blade to not lose points because the axe goes in too deep.

The original prototype of this axe had a 1/4 thick blade that I found to be too chunky for throwing. Also, the eye was my first attempt at creating an eye that would fit traditional style handles but I didn't quite get the hourglass shape right, and found it necessary to pin the handle anyways.

For version 2.0, the blade has been thinned to what is now our standard thickness of 4mm, and I changed the eye to accept our pinned handle design.  The weight of this axe should make it a great option for those that prefer a slightly lighter axe, but still want to maximize scoring potential.  It's also got that pronounced beard that many people are after.

By default, this axe comes with a single handle.  Additional handles can be purchased here. 

As an Infinity Axes special, this design incorporates a pinned handle design that allows for rapid replacement of handles.  The socket measures 1.25 inches x 0.75 inches with 1/4 inch radius corners.  You can choose to purchase additional handles with your axe head.  Regardless of choice we will also include a high strength roll-pin that will require the use of a punch to insert / remove.  The hole for the roll pins is 1/4inch in diameter, in our experience the roll pin, provides the best balance of strength and ease of replacement.
